What is GIrlvana Yoga?
Girlvana Yoga was developed by Alex Mazerolle in hopes of creating a powerful tool to uplift our next generation of young womxn. It brings yoga to self-identifying teen (ages 12-18) and preteen (9-11) girls in a real and approachable way, opening the hearts, bodies and minds of girls though playful postures, raw dialogue and strong mentorship. Along with an asana practice, classes include discussion, journaling, crafting and other fun and meaningful activities. Girlvana's intention is to create a space for girls to open up, show up and rise up.
Because the program's impact within her own community has been so profound, Alex has begun offering her guidance to teachers from across the country and internationally in order to spread this work. I am excited to be able to bring this program to Langley, North Delta and Tsawwassen! Just as it was her intention, it is mine to create a safe and open space for girls to discuss the silly and the serious and to take a moment to feel and reflect. My goal is to get girls into their bodies, find their unique voice, and develop an interest in yoga on and off the mat.
When & Where:
These summer camps are run as intensives open to self-identifying teen girls from ages 12-17 (age range is flexible but needs to be discussed on an individual basis). We work to discuss and to create projects around body image, consent, self-care, relationships, stress management, politics & much more that affect and interest teens deal on the daily. This is paired with moving our bodies in fun and relaxing ways to connect to the truest version of themselves. Students are met with open dialogue and non-judgement.
In honour of inclusion, diversity, & community, I HAVe decided to Make THIS SUMMER’S GIRLVANA CAMPs AVAILABLe ON A PAY-WHAT-You-Can INCREMENT MODEL! 5 DAYS A WeeK 2HR CLASS EACH DAY $50 - $225.
